Finance Manager
Position Summary
Responsible for the financial oversight of analysis and reporting for Westport Yachts. Producing financial reports and developing strategies based on financial research. Guiding senior executives in making sound business decisions in the long and short term. The Financial Manager supervises the Accounting department, including Payroll; as well as Material Handling and Purchasing. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger management, monthly financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities. Monitors production cost trends and oversees daily, weekly, and monthly financial and banking transactions.
Essential Job Functions
- Monitor the day-to-day financial operations within the company, such as payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other financial transactions.
- Provide financial reports and interpret financial information to exempt staff while recommending further courses of action.
- Analyze costs, pricing, variable contributions, sales results and the company’s actual performance compared to the business plans.
- Develop trends and projections for the company’s finances.
- Conduct reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities.
- Oversee operations of the Accounting, Material Handling and Purchasing departments, set goals and objectives and design a framework for these to be met.
- Assist in the managing of the preparation of the company’s budget.
- Develop strategies that work to minimize financial risk.
- Establish and provide input into the maintenance of financial policies and procedures for the company.

Requirements
- At least a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college.
- At least 5 year’s experience in the area of job cost accounting, financial statement preparation, budgeting, payroll, purchasing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or the equivalent.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Experience working in the financial area of a manufacturing/production business.
- Experience with General Ledgers and Job Cost Coding.
- Experience with preparation, and interpretation of Financial Statements.
- Experience with Purchasing and Warehousing/Inventory management.
- Ability to manage, guide and lead employees to ensure appropriate financial processes are being used.
- Must have reading, math and writing skills adequate to perform all duties outlined in Job Description.
- Must have computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
- All duties will require frequent sitting, walking, standing, and the fine manipulation of hands with occasional bending, twisting, pushing and pulling. Office supplies, mail or other items that may need to be lifted and or carried may weigh up to 50 pounds.
Other Preferred Skills/Abilities
- Certified Public Account (CPA).
- BA in Finance, Business Administration or BS in Accounting.
- Experience using ERP systems

The work environment is in a production building noise levels are moderate to high with some chemical odors present. When on the production floor, PPE is required where noted.
