Location: Iowa City, IA
Position Specific Summary: To design and program business system solutions for the Graduate College by identifying and evaluating options, implementing the chosen solution, resolving issues, and serving as liaison between the Graduate College and campus data providers and consumers.
Specific Job Duties and Tasks:
Existing Process/System Monitoring, Evaluation & Reengineering:
- Develop and distribute reliable, actionable information to the Graduate College and its programs/units and the greater campus community by analyzing work processes and operations.
- Participate and lead in the development of new systems, methods and tools to gather, process, analyze and publish data from multiple sources.
- Manage reporting processes.
- Research and contribute to the development of cost-benefit analyses of data driven projects.
- Develop, consult on and maintain delivered solutions.
New Process/System Design and Testing:
- Develop visually informative dashboards and customized reports based on business requirements.
- Participate within a multidisciplinary team to collect and interpret business requirements into optimum BI solutions to meet needs.
- Test system changes for usability, performance and adherence to standards.
- Verify results with stakeholders, ensuring data needs of the Graduate College are met.
Support, Training and Implementation:
- Provide design support for the development of business intelligence solutions.
- Develop training materials.
- Provide individual training and go-live support.
Process/ Project Management:
- Prepare and distribute accurate reports to business units as needed/requested.
- Prepare ad hoc reports as requested by the Graduate College and its units.
- Develop and/or maintain strong partnerships with cross functions teams from various business units and IT to promote successful project completion.
- Serve as liaison supporting communication among internal staff to identify and track issues.
- Analyze user feedback to continuously improve data driven decision making capabilities pertaining to graduate education.
- Maintain documentation on assigned project requirements.
Education Requirement
· A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience is required.
Experience Required
- Experience (typically one to three years) with project management, reporting, analysis, process improvement, and recommending solutions is required.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively transmit, receive and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through appropriate communication methods and behaviors at a working proficiency level is required.
- Demonstrated working proficiency in the ability to work with variety of individuals and groups in a constructive manner while appreciating the unique contribution of diverse individuals is required.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, balance multiple priorities, and to ensure a high level of accuracy in work produced is required.
- Working knowledge of approaches and techniques for recognizing, anticipating and resolving operational or process problems is required.
- Ability to work with users at all levels of experience in both a team atmosphere and as a self-motivated individual is required.
Desirable Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to adjust and develop self to prepare for new or changing assignments, processes, people or priorities as organizational needs dictate at a working proficiency level is desirable.
- Working knowledge of systems analysis, and design principles and methodologies is desirable.
- Some knowledge of University of Iowa policies, procedures and regulations is desirable.
Highly Desirable
- Working proficiency with Microsoft Office, BI Stack and SQL is highly desirable.
