Education:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in Information Technology, Computer Science, Public Administration, Business Administration or a closely related field.
Experience:
Five years of administrative management experience in Information Technology.
Knowledge of:
The principles and practices of information and communications technology, information security, business and government processes, laws, regulations, and programs; Standards for project management; Information Technology customer service.
Skill/Ability to:
Plan, organize, direct and evaluate the activities of a professional, technical and administrative support staff; Analyze and interpret data to ensure effective management; Speak effectively before the Board of Supervisors, committees, and other groups; Negotiate terms of contracts; Prepare clear and comprehensive reports; Read and interpret complex legislation and regulations; Select and evaluate staff; Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, other departments and agencies, and the public; Work effectively in emergency and stressful situations. Analyze various complex problems and situations and take an effective course of action.
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE
Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California driver's license.
DESIRABLE EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Possession of, or ability to obtain, certification as a Project Management Professional, Information Systems Security Professional or other Information Technology certification.
Conditions of Employment
Candidates selected will be required to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. Additionally, a background investigation may also be conducted. Some job classes may also require a physical exam.
