Upstate Medical University is looking for a Nurse Manager to join their dynamic team of expert professionals.
The Nurse Manager of the Family Birth Center at the Community Hospital is responsible for the clinical practice of nursing within various settings inclusive of the following: Labor & Delivery unit, Maternal Operating Room, Post-Partum unit and Extra Care Nursery. The Family Birth Center at Community Hospital has successfully achieved Baby Friendly Designation and is a Level 1 Nursery, anticipating to transition to a Level 2 Nursery in the future.
The successful Nurse Manager assumes the primary leadership role and management of defined clinical nursing areas to facilitate and deliver comprehensive nursing care and to manage the environment in which care is given. Major functions include: goals, planning, customer service/marketing, standards, certification and accreditation, administrative management, budget/cost containment, communication, and education. Ensures adherence to hospital or department and university policies and to nursing policies, procedures, standards, and practices. The Nurse Manager exemplifies the Upstate mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Upstate policies and procedures.

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Master’s degree in Nursing required. NYS Licensed/Registered Nurse (or eligible) required. Three (3) years of post-licensure RN acute care experience (preferably in specialty area) to include leadership experience required. Excellent written/oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills required. CPR-Basic Life Support (BLS) successfully completed before hire. Nursing Leadership certification strongly preferred. Other specialty-based certifications for nursing leadership (i.e. CCRN, CEN) are also encouraged and supported. Master’s degree preferred. Maternity/OB experience preferred.
