Job Description

This position, working in collaboration with Real Estate Bureau management, will assume lead responsibility to oversee negotiations, settlements, and condemnation proceedings for assigned projects in accordance with approved schedules and budgets.  

Accountable for negotiation and completion of complex land acquisitions, including representing the Bureau as prime negotiator for acquisition of politically sensitive properties. Strategizes complex acquisition programs and provides briefings to management. Initiates and directs interdepartmental real estate team efforts and provides guidance to project land acquisition team. 

Participates in establishing real estate acquisition objectives, priorities, and schedules based on project requirements. Demonstrates commitment to maintaining a coordinated interagency acquisition effort, and the ability to bring individual and team projects to closure.  Initiates, coordinates, facilitates, and strengthens complex, multi-level, multi-agency relationships. 
 

This position may be filled at either the Sr Professional - Acquisition {LR322 - Grade 020} or Real Property Manager - Sr {LR 235 - Grade 018} level, depending on experience and qualifications. 


Education/Experience Guidelines: 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Real Estate or related field. 
  • 6+ years’ experience in land acquisition that demonstrates expertise in purchasing real property interests.
  • Professional competency with real estate principles and techniques associated with real estate law, negotiations, appraisal and land titles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor or Master’s degree in Real Estate.
  • Fluent in both English and Spanish.

License(s) / Certification(s): 
Valid State of Florida Driver's License required.

Physical Requirements/ Working Environment:
Due to the District's response role and in the total scope of emergency management, this position may at times, be required to provide support before, during and after major storm events and emergency situations, such as hurricanes or other declared emergencies, depending on assigned emergency response role.
