Primary Purpose:
Responsible for the overall performance of the facility. Duties may include start up, shutdown, and emergency procedures for safe plant operation, routine preventative and predictive maintenance, maintaining of plant logs, records, and data sheets, assistance in investigation of plant problems, inventory control and parts ordering, plant system and program ownership.
Responsibilities/Duties:
Performs preventive/corrective maintenance on plant systems and equipment,
Manages assigned Area of Responsibility (AOR), tunes and adjusts equipment as required
Pursuit of knowledge, yearly goals, attainment of applicable qualifications as designated by O&M Manager such as Plant Qualification Cards, NV PV Installers license. Attends various equipment specific training sessions.
Performs Administrative requirements to aid in recording data, logs and inspections.
Coordinates and manages all activities required under the solar plant O&M agreements and equipment warranties. Monitors contractor activities and manufacture warranty work. Ensures safety training is up to date on contractors and vendors.
Review, develop, update, and train on operating and safety procedures as necessary to assist all others in operation of the plant
Performs periodic environmental, and safety inspections. Documents and repairs discrepancies
Monitor the Control Room as a backup to the Remote Operations Center or in a required emergency situation.
Conducts daily security checks and controls all access and activities at solar plant
The responsibilities of the Solar Technician I are non-inclusive and may be modified to meet the needs of the Facility and/or at the O&M Manager discretion. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
A formal training program and/or recognized apprenticeship are highly desirable or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Ability to read and write in English and perform basic mathematical computations
Competency in the following areas: figural reasoning, verbal reasoning, math, mechanical and Electrical understanding, prudence, and communication skills. Competency is demonstrated through satisfactory completion of the Technician Qualification Training.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
Computer proficient in MS Office, Word, Excel or similar software. DataStream or similar software helpful.
Knowledge of principles of electrical equipment and maintenance practices, and appropriate electrical safety procedures are preferred. Knowledge of DC inverter theory is a plus. Knowledge of PLC's and Low Voltage equipment a plus. Knowledge of Electrical Maintenance a plus. Experience operating a forklift or earth moving equipment a plus.
Must be able to work alone and in a team environment.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, drawings, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports and correspond effectively to all employees of the organization
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Demonstrated use of a calculator to perform the above calculations is sufficient.
Ability to solve practical problems and provide applicable solutions.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form.
Additional details:
Must be able to work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule that includes weekends and holidays. During maintenance periods, night shift work will be required.
This position will have up to a 25% travel requirement to perform maintenance at remote sites.
