The County of Madera is seeking an experienced individual to become the next County Probation Officer.
Impactful Change & Community Protection. The Probation Department works in partnership with other agencies and organizations to provide essential programs and services to create a safer Madera County.
The Position:
The County Probation Officer is a Department Head position that serves at the pleasure of the Judges of the Madera Superior Court and the day-to-day oversight of the Madera County Administrative Officer. The position is responsible for ensuring that the functions and programs of the Probation Department are performed in a manner that serves and protects Madera County.
Some additional responsibilities of the position include: oversight of adult and juvenile probation programs; oversight of Juvenile Detention Facility operations; fosters community and justice partnerships; provides liaison between the Superior Court, the County Administrative Officer, the Board of Supervisors, the Grand Jury and members of the Juvenile Justice/Delinquency Commission; services as primary advisor on probation matters to the Board of Supervisors; provides consultation to the Superior Court, the County and staff about legislation impacting department operations; and ensures the application of the Department's Core Values aline with the County's Core Values of:

The Community:
Madera County is the geographic center of California and the San Joaquin Valley. The County land area encompasses the rich San Joaquin Valley, the Sierra Nevada, and the southern portion of Yosemite National Park. The County has a population of 155,000 with an unincorporated population of 76,000. Madera County enjoys housing two (2) Community College campus' and is just a short drive from California State University, Fresno and University of California at Merced. The County is located only 1-2 hours from a variety of recreational opportunities including hiking, skiing, boating, fishing, wilderness adventures, recreation streams and lakes, 3 national parks, and the Pacific Ocean.
