James City County Facilities Division seeks an individual to perform experience work operating, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in County facilities, to lead assigned personnel and performs related technical and administrative duties, and perform skilled work troubleshooting operational problems and performing maintenance of electrical systems.
Responsibilities:
- Oversees work of team members during operations including accountability for job completion, materials selection, coordination of logistics and overall welfare and performance of assigned personnel.
- Repairs and maintains electrical systems; locates and determines electrical malfunctions using test instruments such as ohmmeter and test lamp; repairs malfunctions using standard repair methods such as replacing burnt out elements and fuses, bypassing or replacing defective wiring, filing switch contact points and cleaning or rewiring motors; tests electrical equipment like generators and heaters for safety and efficiency using standard test equipment and by observing functioning.
- Tests continuity of circuits to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of all components using standard instruments such as ohmmeter, battery, and buzzer and oscilloscope; observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustment, relocation or replacement; repairs faulty equipment or systems; inspects circuits and wiring for specified shielding and grounding and repairs or rewires systems according to building codes and safety regulations.
- Reviews design drawings, contract documents and engineering specifications for engineering work.
- Arranges for purchasing of supplies, materials and equipment.
- This job is considered essential personnel and will be required to work during and following natural disasters and emergency situations.
