General Farm Laborers/Hand Harvesters wanted June 1 to August 25, 2019 for Peri & Sons Farms of California, LLC in Firebaugh, CA. There are 67 temporary positions available. Work duties will include, but not be limited to: Worker will be required to hand harvest onions to market specifications so as not to cause damage to the produce by clipping onion roots and tops in the field; Place product in buckets and transfer to field bins. Workers may transport crops and farm equipment between growing sites and to storage. All other duties assigned under this order will be those duties of Farmworker, Diversified Crops, under the Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Classification Code 45-2092.02. Applicants must have 30 days verifiable experience in hand harvesting onions. Must be able to lift and/or move 25-50 pounds. Worker must be able to bend and stoop to reach ground level crops and be able to stand on their feet or be on their knees for long periods of time. The scheduled work week is Sunday through Friday. Work is scheduled on a night shift of 5 hours on Sunday 10:00pm to 3:00am and 7 hours Monday through Friday 10:00pm to 6:00am Three quarter of the hours in the contract period are guaranteed. Tools, supplies, equipment provided by employer at no cost to the worker. No cost housing will be provided for individual workers who cannot reasonably return to their permanent residence at the end of the work day, no family housing available. Reasonable transportation and subsistence expenses to the worksite will be paid by the employer in the paycheck issued for the workers’ first pay period. Hourly rate is $13.92 and piece rate(s) are offered depending on crop activity with a guaranteed minimum of $13.92 per hour.
