Overview

Under general direction from the Recreation/Community Programs Coordinator, officiates youth and adult basketball games following National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules; ensures game play is fair and safe; supports organized competition.

Primary Responsibilities

The Basketball Referee is a part-time, at-will, class responsible for officiating youth and adult recreation league basketball games. Position may work daytime, evenings, nighttime, and weekends to support the public’s participation in recreational basketball. Basketball Referees must be dependable and timely in reporting to work in support of scheduled programming. 

Minimum Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for a Basketball Referee.  Applicants must demonstrate knowledge of basketball through previous participation at a recreation or competitive level. Prior officiating experience is a plus. 
 
License/Certificate:
Basketball officiating certificate is desired, but not required.
