Central Arkansas Water (CAW), an award-winning water utility serving Little Rock-North Little Rock and surrounding areas, is currently seeking a skilled, innovative individual to
serve as Engineering Technician for the utility.
Job Summary
• Prepares & reviews detailed plans, specifications, & construction estimates
• Administers contracts for construction of distribution facilities
• Reviews commercial building permit applications
• Performs field work required for plan preparation & inspection duties
• Maintains records on projects
• Utilizes ArcView/ArcMap GIS system
Qualifications
• 2 years of work experience in construction inspection including estimating (or) 2 years of work experience in CAD, GIS, Computer Science or related field
• Must have knowledge of computer aided drafting; surveying procedures; algebra & geometry; manual drafting principles & practices
• Ability to learn to prepare construction designs & plans; learn GPS equipment; lift 50 lbs; communicate orally & in writing; maintain effective relationships with contractors, customers & consultants; work independently & on elevated structures up to 150 feet
• Skilled in map & plan reading, word processing, spreadsheet & database programs
• Must pass a surveying course within 2 years of hire
• Must pass a technical writing course within 4 years of hire
• Must pass a college Trigonometry course within 1 year of hire if prior high school or college level Trigonometry course has not been successfully completed
• Obtain the Arkansas Grade 4 Treatment & Distribution Water Licenses within required time frames
• Must be 21 years old or older; have a valid Arkansas Driver's License with a good driving record; maintain telephone for subject to call nights, weekends & holidays
