Job Description: Implements designs, and integrates machinery, equipment, and computer technologies to ensure effective manufacturing processes to produce machine parts made from hardened steels, aluminum, plastics, and exotic alloys.
Duties: Use CNC/CAM/PLC programming skills to create CNC (Computer Numerical Control) programs to produce machined/fabricated parts. Create programs from CAD/solid models using Mastercam or other CAM software. Plan, organize, and oversee processes for the production of machined/fabricated parts. Assist in training staff on programming, part fixturing, machine operation, tooling, good machine practices. Create and institute systems for improvements in product quality, reliability, and cost; and to maximize efficiency.
Education Requirements: Associate's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field.
Experience Requirements: Five (5) years of experience in the job offered, or in a Manufacturing Engineering Technologist position in the machining industry.
Special Skill Requirements: Two (2) years of experience using CNC/CAM/PLC (Computer Numerical Control/Computer Aided Manufacturing/Programmable Logic Controller) programming skills to create CNC programs for producing machined/fabricated parts. Two (2) years of experience creating programs from CAD (Computer Aided Design)/solid models using Mastercam or other CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) software. Five (5) years of experience working with general machining practices, efficient machining operations, speeds/feeds, and tooling required for given applications and materials. Two (2) years of experience planning and overseeing the production process.
