Senior Chemical Engineer
Senior Chemical Engineer (Kansas City, MO): Perform processing engineering within the oil, gas and chemical industries. Development of process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs). Responsible for process simulation and modeling using HYSYS software. Provide calculations of material and energy balances. Provide project administration. Lead activity and provide progress updates. Conduct design review meeting, participating in Process Hazard Analysis meetings and attending Project schedule planning meetings. Responsible for developing man-hour estimate and budget for stages of process project scope. Mentor and lead staff on the specific design activities. Primary contact for external and internal project team members for all scope items and responsible for all process team members.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Chemical Engineering. 7 years of experience in process engineering in the Oil, Gas & Chemical industries to include:
- Development of process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) with SmartPlant suite of software (SPPID, SPI, SP3, and SPF);
- Sizing new equipment or rating and optimization of existing equipment (Vessel, Exchanger, Tower and pumps) with either vendor software (HTRI and K-G Tower) or internally developed spreadsheets and other design calculation tools;
- Process simulation and modeling using HYSYS software, Aspen, Petro-sim, and Pro II). Calculations of material and energy balances;
- Sizing pumps and hydraulics circuits with either vendor software (AFT Fathom and Arrow) or internally developed spreadsheets and other design calculation tools. Flare header hydraulics using Aspen Flare Analyzer (Flarenet);
- Sizing and specifying instrumentations including control valves and pressure relief valves;
- Developing Cause and Effect diagram; and
- Developing Process Control narratives for complex Unit operating systems. PE or P Eng license.
