Senior Scientist with Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in Ridgefield, CT. Design & execute independent research that supports R&D projects. Position requires a Ph.D. (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Organic Chemistry or related field or Master's Degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Organic Chemistry or related field & 3 years of experience in the job offered or related role. Must have working knowledge of the following skills gained through coursework or experience: demonstrate broad knowledge of organic chemistry; independently design & optimize organic reactions, & evaluate & interpret data; communicate effectively both in verbal & written forms in inter-disciplinary environments; work in a team environment, & provide training & guidance to laboratory personnel; lead the identification & incorporation of new technologies or best practices to enhance a specific scientific or tech area &/or lead a portfolio project; identify & propose external collaborations & assume departmental responsibility for a portfolio project; develop non-precious metal catalysis & enantioselective methods include CU catalysis & transition metal free chem; apply the developed chemical methodology to small molecule natural product synthesis; utilize knowledge of the synthesis of organoboron compounds, N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs), & phosphines; utilize knowledge of purification & analytical techniques such as NMR, Mass spectrometry, IR, HPLC, SFC, & GC; utilize basic computation knowledge/programs such as Gaussian to predict a reaction mechanism & propose effective catalysts or ligand structures; lead, maintain, & organize a large chemical inventory/stock for the laboratory. Must have published as a first or second author in at least 1 peer reviewed journal with high impact factor.
