Credit Officer
This position is responsible for managing Credit Risk functions at the Bank. These include Credit Risk Performance Management Reporting, the Loan Review System and other Credit quality monitoring systems. Responsibilities for Credit quality systems include monitoring past due loans, overdrafts, loan extensions, and monitoring appraiser performance. Responsibilities also include assisting bankers in business development strategies, pricing, and identifying target markets. Duties include updating Credit Policy to adhere to regulatory changes and / or credit risk tolerance adjustments.
The Credit Officer acts in a support role for management of the Problem Loan Resolution process for all loan portfolios. Also assists in developing bank lending policies and tools for banker use, and for providing banker training on policies and lending or advisory software program tools and serves in a loan approval role.

Credit Risk Information Management Reporting
Information related to Credit Risk is utilized for a wide range of purposes including:
- Management Reporting
- Performance Management System Enhancements

- Credit Risk rating and classification
- Monitoring risk in larger individual loans
This information must be accurate, timely, cost effective, and adaptable to changing conditions. The overall goal of this responsibility is to identify current and possible future credit risks that may cause American Federal to exceed targeted credit loss tolerances.

- Risk Rating Reports
- Credit Quality Reports
- Delinquency Reporting
- Quarterly High Loan to Value Reporting
- Tools to evaluate and detect Loan Portfolio trends
- Client Management System components related to Loan Administration, Problem Loan Resolution, Electronic Credit Files, and Credit Underwriting

SUPPORT ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs routine review and analysis of business, commercial, and agricultural loans approved under Banker’s delegated authority for consistency with bank policy and adherence to proposed and approved loan service plans
- Monitors all loan administration plans for compliance to loan approval requirements and identifies documentation exceptions. Reports exceptions to Senior Credit Officer and monitors to assure they are corrected
- Assists in management of Action Planning/Problem Loan Resolution to minimize Charge-offs and Non-Performing Assets
- Assists in developing bank lending policies and procedures
- Represents the bank to the customer in a courteous and professional manner, and for providing prompt, efficient, accurate service for processing transactions
- Effectively refers customers for sales of American Federal products and services
- Leads or supports special projects

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent in business, finance, economics or related fields.
- Three to five years of increasingly responsible job experience in credit analysis, loan underwriting and collections experience, focusing on business, agricultural, commercial, and consumer credits. Experience in residential mortgage lending is desired.
- Three or more years of loan review and/or experience in policy and procedure development and implementation desired
- Highly-developed computer skills in spreadsheet applications, word processing, and database reporting software. Preference for Access, LaserPro and Excel proficiency.
- Broad knowledge of bank lending department operations and procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills required to represent American Federal Bank to bank staff and customers.
- Self-starter, conscientious, and comfortable with detail.
- Work effectively in a working environment balancing multiple priorities, placed by various bank business unit lending staff and corporate management.
