Fostering Innovation
The Alderwood Water & Wastewater District (AWWD) seeks an experienced information technology (IT) professional to lead, support, maintain, enhance, and champion technology for our evolving utility. As a new addition to our IT division, the IT Systems Analyst will be a well rounded, systemic thinker who is comfortable wearing multiple hats, leading proactive upgrade and replacement efforts, and implementing creative solutions that align with the strategic direction of the District.
Much of the region’s thriving growth is landing directly in AWWD’s service area. Meeting the needs of our growing customer population requires more efficient business processes, services, and technology. Just a few of the District’s pending technology projects include enterprise GIS field tools, records management software, and establishing a strong and effective asset management program. With most of our workforce in the field, our future success will depend on securely making tools and technology available to our mobile workforce.
Of course, supporting these new business tools requires a strong foundation, and the District is investing in standardized and scheduled equipment replacement, software upgrades, network improvements, cybersecurity, and disaster recovery. Stewarding and continuously improving our technology infrastructure is critical to support the resiliency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of AWWD’s services. Recruiting the right IT Systems Analyst to champion these efforts is key to the District’s success.
As a special purpose district, AWWD is in a unique position to implement progressive solutions. We believe that optimizing those solutions to benefit our customers requires a knowledgeable and empowered workforce who can respectfully challenge the status quo and embrace improvement. Our organization benefits from the variety of perspectives, cultures, philosophies, communication styles and experience of our talented workforce. This is especially true for our IT division, and the best addition to our team will be an enthusiastic innovator who will learn the history behind a process and is willing to challenge their own assumptions. Our new IT Systems Analyst will be an inquisitive and active listener who has the confidence to say “I don’t know,” and the initiative to follow up and implement agile solutions.
Water for LIFE, Forever
The Alderwood Water & Wastewater District’s mission is to provide clean, reliable water and wastewater services for a healthy community. As an organization we strive to build and maintain a system that will function for the next 100 years and beyond. We protect the natural environment, conserve water resources, and provide critical services, every day. Spanning over 45-square miles in south Snohomish County, AWWD is the largest special purpose water/wastewater District in the State of Washington.
The District recently adopted a new five year strategic plan that outlines the following strategies: serve you today, plan for tomorrow, protect our water supply, manage our information and our physical assets, and build a learning organization.
Many of the goals identified in the strategic plan are dependent on technological advancement. IT is looking forward to implementing technology to improve communication, increase information sharing, and support system resiliency efforts. The new IT Systems Analyst will play a vital role in implementing and supporting these advancements, especially as the District evolves into a proactive, prepared and forward-thinking organization.
A Department Dedicated to Service
The Administrative Services Department is comprised of IT, Human Resources, Administrative Support, and Safety & Emergency Preparedness. Our Department’s mission is serving and supporting the incredible people who keep your water safe, clean, and reliable every day. Our commitment to service includes not only our organization, but also agency partners and the people of our community. Service is, quite literally, our middle name.
The addition of the IT Systems Analyst represents the investment AWWD is making in technology, bringing the size of our division to six employees. Other positions in our division include IT Manager, IT Project Manager, GIS Coordinator, Application Systems Specialist, and Computer Support Specialist.
The ideal IT Systems Analyst candidate will be a service oriented people person who finds value and opportunity in differing or conflicting perspectives. This position will work best in a tight knit, high functioning team committed to designing the best strategies to make work easier and more effective for our users.
